Peace of Pizza

There is a weekend in early October when all of the Philadelphia professional sports teams, the Eagles, the Phillies, the Sixers, the Flyers and the Union, are playing. It is a confluence of athletes each performing under their respective team banner. If you are a sports fanatic, this weekend will put a terrible burden on your TV remote.

We, at St. Stephen’s, have an upcoming opportunity to “play” under our own banner. On Friday evening, October 14, we will host our annual outdoor PEACE of PIZZA event in our turn-around area as part of the recognition of and celebration of Peace Week in Delaware. We expect this to be a confluence of our own as we will bring together congregation members, neighbors, friends, musicians, and community leaders to speak to and focus on opportunities to engender reduced gun violence and peace within the City of Wilmington and nearby communities.

What can you do to support this important part of our ministry?

1. Plan to attend and enjoy the free pizza, music, and more

  • 5:00 PM – 6:30 pm – Food and Live Jazz

  • 6:45 PM – 7:30 pm – Cab Calloway High School Concert

2. Invite and bring your friends

3. Bake one (or two) pound cakes for dessert.

  • If you can help, let Kanchalee know (office@ststeph.org or 302-652-7623) by October 10

4. At the event, talk with others you know, and more importantly, with those you don’t know

5. Pray for beautiful weather that evening

  • If there is inclement weather, the event will be held in the sanctuary and fellowship/gathering area

So, No Excuses! Mark your calendar now! Help create a large crowd of people on the 14th as a testament to the strength of our congregational outreach ministry.

See you there!
