It is the church's job to step outside of its doors and serve as disciples in the community. It is also important that we work with others in the community to work with and serve others. There are several organizations in town that St. Stephen's partners with.

Peace of Pizza

Peace Week Delaware

Peace Week Delaware brings together community organizations and people for an annual week of free nonpartisan events to promote harmony, equity and justice in our community. Each organization promotes peace in the way that best fits its mission.

St. Stephen's hosts Peace Week Delaware's headquarters and sponsors Peace of Pizza every October.

Lutheran Community Services

Lutheran Community Services helps individuals and families address food, housing, and other essential needs with dignity and respect. LCS has been serving low-income families in Wilmington and New Castle County, Delaware since 1959. They offer emergency assistance for housing stability, food pantries, food prescription program, and smoking cessation.

St. Stephen's hosts a stationary food pantry which is open five days a week.

Emmanuel Dining Room

Emmanuel Dining Room helps alleviate the immediate needs of Delaware’s hungry with nutritious meals served at no cost and with no questions asked.

Every day of the year, guests of Emmanuel Dining Room are seated in a clean, cheerful dining room and served a nutritious meal in restaurant fashion. An average of 550 meals are served every day. All who come through its doors are warmly welcomed.

St. Stephen's provides lunch once a month.

Hilltop Lutheran Neighborhood Center

Hilltop Lutheran Neighborhood Center is a not-for-profit agency providing educational and social development programs for children and teens in the Wilmington community.

Every year St. Stephen's provides backpacks for Hilltop children, Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts.

Lutheran Church Wilmington

As a Reconciling in Christ congregation of the ELCA, we believe that the gospel is God's gift to all people, shared unconditionally and without regard to race, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, socio-economic or family status, age, physical or mental abilities, outward appearance, or religious affiliation. We seek racial equality and justice. In this way, we live into the truth written in Ephesians (2:14)—that Christ breaks down the dividing walls between us and makes us one.
