It is the church's job to step outside of its doors and serve as disciples in the community. It is also important that we work with others in the community to work with and serve others. There are several organizations in town that St. Stephen's partners with:
Family Promise
Family Promise of Northern New Castle County is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization that prevents and ends homelessness for families. They provide a safe place to eat and sleep, intensive case management, support, and hope.
They have established a network of congregations that host families directly in their houses of worship, staffed by caring volunteers who have put their faith into action. We are a community of faith-based congregations, volunteers and homeless families with children growing in faith, hope, and love.
LCS
LCS has been serving low-income families in Wilmington and New Castle County, Delaware with emergency food, housing, and other services since 1959.
Originally founded to help senior citizens with their independent living needs, they have evolved into a multi-faceted social service agency with many different programs and locations for low-income people of all ages.
Bootless Stageworks
Bootless Stageworks (“Bootless”) is a Delaware non-profit arts organization providing high-quality theatrical performances of operas, operettas, musical theater and stage plays. Governed and managed entirely by devoted volunteers, Bootless is a unique, small professional (non-equity) theater company employing emerging theater artists and designers from throughout the Delaware Valley.
Bootless was originally known as Arden Club Theatre, but became homeless after becoming its own non-profit art organization in 2009. In 2014 they signed a long-term with St. Stephen's and are working to create an intimate 75-seat theater space.
