Where does your life and faith intersect?

For some, they see their faith and their everyday life as two separate things - and the two shall never meet. Some go to church and when they leave, they leave.

Others might see their faith and their life walking hand in hand - as if they are riding a tandem bicycle. Moving both in sync where life and faith are one.

Yet I am going to make an assumption here (and we all know what that makes out of you and me), however I believe it to be accurate. Many of us most likely do not think about how our lives and our faith intersect on a daily basis.

Our lives, all complex and diverse, often find their ways into situations where they intersect with our faith. Little things, like how we treat our servers at a restaurant or strangers when we encounter them. Could a simple acknowledgement of someone’s presence actually be a transformative action that brings our faith into our everyday lives?

In the sixth chapter of Luke, Jesus asks us “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?” It is far easier to see people like ourselves or to only notice those whom we love. Yet what about those that are not like us - those that are different. Jesus continues: “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for [God] is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your [God] is merciful.”

If we look at how our faith and life intersect we cannot help but see all the beauty of God around us. People of faith cannot stand by when those we love - or even view as our enemies - are harmed. If a faith based in the love of Christ intersects with our daily lives I wonder how different our world would be? I wonder how different our city and personal ‘everydays’ will be?
