We give thanks for:

  • Those who worship with us on Sunday morning

  • Those who volunteer at the food pantry

  • Those who work to keep things running at St. Stephen's: Kanchalee, Oksana, Bonnie, Armand, Tony, Pastor Jason

  • Those who volunteer and support activities such as Art Loop, Peace Week, Empty Bowl Dinner, Hilltop backpacks/Thanksgiving boxes/Christmas presents, concert series

  • Those who volunteer for worship: altar guild, service assistants, choir

  • Those who volunteer to lead St. Stephen's: council, stewardship team, finance team, LEAD team, mutual ministry team, property team

  • Those who bring food for the food pantry

  • Those in the community who support the work of St. Stephen's

  • Those whom we inadvertently overlook, but have a role in life and work of St. Stephen's

To paraphrase a friend: If no one has told you today that you are loved: God loves you, and so does St. Stephen's.

We also give thanks for the upcoming season of Advent, a time to step back from the hustle and bustle of the world around us, and prepare for the coming of Christ. On December 1 we will light the first candle on the Advent wreath. Advent Vespers will be offered on December 4 and 11 with a Taize-style contemplative service beginning at 6:30 pm. On December 18 we will have a hymn/carol sing, also at 6:30. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends to join you for a time of quiet in this hectic season.

Lutheran Church Wilmington

As a Reconciling in Christ congregation of the ELCA, we believe that the gospel is God's gift to all people, shared unconditionally and without regard to race, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, socio-economic or family status, age, physical or mental abilities, outward appearance, or religious affiliation. We seek racial equality and justice. In this way, we live into the truth written in Ephesians (2:14)—that Christ breaks down the dividing walls between us and makes us one.
