For some reason lately I've been noticing things that make me feel old. We have now lived in Delaware for 19 years, which is the longest either of us has ever lived in one place. Our oldest child will soon be turning 30 (which means I'm on the downslope for 60). I'm getting to know my doctor because I'm seeing him more often. When I read the celebrity columns in People magazine while I'm at the doctor's office, I have no idea who most of these celebrities are. I've been watching Grey's Anatomy for how long? A funny thing happened on the way to the forum today - well, I should more accurately say, something soul jolting happened on my way to church today. I heard someone say that they were blessed and listed off reasons - none of which have anything to do with what God would count as blessings. This past Sunday we got into this conversation in Bible Study, what does make us blessed? Does having something more than another (money, car, health) make us blessed? Perhaps, but what about the person that does not have the nice whatever, does that make them less blessed? I wonder if we sometimes confuse blessing with luck.
